Owner of D.K.'s, Sean Tao explained to me that the idea for the bacon maple log comes from the trend setting confectionary, Voodoo Donut, up in the Pacific Northwest. He puts the bacon maple log on his menu because he belives that 'you shouldn't have to drive up to Portland to have to get one.' Agreed. The Bacon Maple Log seems like a no brainer. Bacon, donut, engough said. However, the actual offering did not seem to live up to such an avant-garde idea. This is mearly my opinion, but I am not a fan of maple frosting on my donuts. I am however, a fan of bacon and that seemed to help things out. Ultimately this particular log had no cohesion with it’s meaty counterpart and I blame the maple. Bacon and maple logs do not exactly meld like macaroni and cheese but then again bacon can really do not wrong. How about a Breakfast Sausage infused Bear Claw? Hmmmmm......
